Are there any special design or installation tips for Chapter 14 Duality?
Natural stones require a few extra installation procedures that are standard in the industry. We
recommend that you lay out the tiles to create the desired blend of natural hues inherent in natural
stone. It is recommended that a high-quality white thin set be used. A Grey thin set can “bleed
through” and alter the color of many natural stones. It is imperative that a high-quality “natural look” penetrating sealer be used prior to grouting and followed with another application after grouting to prevent staining the natural stone fields and stone elements within the mosaics. An ongoing maintenance program is essential for all natural stone installations. When cutting mosaics that contain glass elements, we recommend using a diamond glass specific blade and cutting at a slower rate than that of stone, or ceramic. Depending on the makeup of the glass blade cutting of mosaics facing downward may be required. Please reference blade manufacturers instructions. As for metal elements: Do not use acids, alkalines, strippers, or solvent-based sealers on the stainless steel chips. Once metal elements have been damaged due to the use of aforementioned chemicals, they cannot be repaired or replaced. lt is important to note that all metal can scratch and dent.
