CHAPTER 11  •  Antiquity

Why did you name Chapter 11 Antiquity?

Natural stone has been used in building construction for many millenniums. "Antiquity" or ancient denotes exactly what Chapter 11 is - very old stone "worked" by current artisans to create art forms that emulate shapes and patterns from ancient Rome, Pompeii, Ravenna, Luxor, and Istanbul.

What are the key features of Chapter 11 Antiquity?

  • Chapter 11 features three basic colors; Walnut, Alpaca, and Almond Crème.
  • The 8" x 8", 8" x 16" and 16" x 16" tiles are modular and have what we call an "antique" finish. The modular floor tiles have a unique "pillowed" edge and a slightly irregular "brushed" surface.
  • Also available in the three field colors are 6"x6", 4"x4", 2"x4" bricks, in a tumbled edge.
  • Three mosaic patterns in the three field colors are offered to complete any installation.
  • A wide range of additional mosaic patterns, micro mosaic listellos, strips and decorative mouldings make the design choices with Chapter 11 Antiquity endless.
  • Chapter 11 has Rosoni panels with corresponding micro listel/strips so that design continuity is possible on more elaborate installations.
  • Presented with the current popular color ways are 18"x18" Travertine and Marble tiles; Ivory, Parma, and Noche.

Are there any special design or installation tips for Chapter 11 Antiquity?

We highly recommend using a stone "modified" thin set when installing all stone. DO NOT use mastics, as they will not ensure a proper and permanent bond.

We recommend that you seal all natural stone with a high quality penetrating sealer prior to grouting and after grouting to prevent staining. Also, there are stone enhancers from several manufacturers that "enhance" stone and give more dramatic results. An ongoing maintenance program is essential for all stone installations.

The micro mosaics, Rosoni panels and listellos do not have measurable grout joints, so we recommend using non-sanded grouts on these items ONLY.

To create a beautiful natural stone design, we recommend that you lay out the tiles prior to installation to create the blend of the different hues and colors the stones provide naturally.
