Statuario is the name of the famous marble from Northern Italy used to create some of the world's most beautiful statues from the Renaissance period. Also, Statuario is not to be confused with the less expensive and greyer White Cararra. Statuario has beautiful random streaks from gold to grey and is a more "precious" marble.
Chapter 15 Statuario can be used virtually anywhere in residences – floor and wall. It can also be used on commercial floors in medium duty use.
Consider using the large micro panels and/or water jet listellos as floor inlays around a room's perimeter or as "stone carpets". SEE CHAPTER 15 CATALOG FOR IDEAS.
Statuario is a classic color of Timeless beauty. Upscale master bathrooms are most assuredly environments for the dramatic use of Chapter 15. Floors, shower pans, and of course walls using the larger module with mouldings and micro borders will result in striking installations.
Due to the assortment of decorative elements contained in this Chapter, particularly striking installations are possible when several components are used together. Consider utilizing the field tiles with two-toned mosaics separated by mouldings or in a picture frame format to increase the visual affects. Victorian, Classic, Retro, Rustic and Contemporary design installations are possible with this material.
Statuario is a marble therefore normal marble installation procedures apply. With marble being a porous natural product it thus requires a few recommended installation tips be followed. It is highly recommended that white thin set be used, as grey thin set can darken the color of Statuario. With respect to the micro mosaics, we recommend using a non-sanded grout with white being the best choice. In the event a non-white grout is used, we recommend sealing the surface prior to grouting.
We recommend that you seal all natural stone with a high quality penetrating sealer prior to grouting and after grouting to prevent staining. Also, there are stone enhancers from several manufacturers that "enhance" stone and give more dramatic results. An ongoing maintenance program is essential for all stone installations.
We recommend that you lay out the tiles prior to installation to create the blend of the different hues and colors the stones provide naturally, to create a beautiful natural stone design.
The largest moulding in this collection is quite heavy. Installation will require a wooden straight edge be temporarily secured on the wall to keep the moulding in place until the thin set dries. They can be hung in place with screws/nails to prevent slipping while the mortar bonds and sets.
The Statuario color works splendidly with the Allegro White in Chapter 18 and the Huntington White in Chapter 6.
