CHAPTER 3  •  Stream Stone

Why did you name Chapter 3 Stream Stone?

The colors we have selected and their directional quality reminded us of a stream, thus Stream Stone. Also, the colors and veining of the stones have a calming Zen feel, and are a compatible medium to execute a contemporary themed chapter.

What are the key features of Chapter 3?

Chapter 3 Stream Stone features two very neutral colored limestones - "Global Grey" and "Transitional Taupe". Each of these two unique stones has random cross veins that add to their beauty. To compliment a contemporary environment we added the white marble "West End White" which again emulates purity.

All three of these individual fields are available in brushed and honed finish. Note that the Transitional Taupe is an extremely dense stone which results in a subtle brushing effect in comparison to the Global Grey and West End White. The option of 4x12 and 6x18 sizes allows additional flexibility to create random patterns whether installed on a floor or on a wall.

A total of thirteen mosaics are offered in a blend of the field colors with the addition of a black marble. The entire theme of Chapter 3 mosaics suit a clean, utility minded design for today's busy lifestyles.

In keeping with Jeffrey Court traditions, Chapter 3 Stream Stone includes an assortment of complementary architectural moldings, liners, and listellos enabling additional design opportunities.

Where can the collection be used?

The honed and lightly brushed natural stone field tiles can be used on any residential and light commercial interior wall or floor installation. The natural stone mosaics, strips, and listellos are ideal for use on backsplashes, tub and shower surrounds, fireplace heaths, and feature walls. The mosaics, strips and listellos containing all stone are also acceptable for use on floor installations. Similar exterior installations are recommended for areas not subject to freeze-thaw conditions.

The natural stone field tiles and mosaics are NOT recommended for submerged applications such as pools, spas and fountains. Additionally, the Platinum mosaic mixed stone and stainless steel is recommended for interior vertical uses only.

Are there any special design or installation tips for Chapter 3 Stream Stone?

Installations where mosaics are used as a stone rug are particularly beautiful in both horizontal applications using a listello to separate the mosaic from the field tiles. Also ideal are wall installations where a molding is used to separate field and mosaics.

As for installation tips, the stones should be installed using a high quality white polymer modified thin set. Be sure to use the proper notched trowel to compensate for some minor thickness variations on the field tiles that are possible with this natural product.

Sealing stones before and after installation and as a routine maintenance program is highly recommended. This is particularly true in wet areas such as showers, and on backsplashes especially behind a stove. Make sure to follow the instructions for use per the manufacturers' specifications.

As with all natural stones, Jeffrey Court highly recommends laying out the project before beginning installations to ensure the best blending throughout the project.
