Why did you name Chapter 8 Courtly?
The word "courtly" conjures up images of refinement and sophistication. Chapter 8 Courtly has multiple sizes and design elements including jewel and crystal toned accents. Combine wonderful field colors, the beautiful glass mosaics , unique ceramic mosaics, or handcrafted decorative pieces to achieve that classic refined installation.
What are the key features of Chapter 8 Courtly?
- Chapter 8 Courtly consists of 6 exciting colors; 3 matte satin glazes and 3 gloss glazes one of which is a crackle. The 6 field sizes allow endless design possibilities and lend ideas from traditional old world to contemporary depending on the installation.
- The three mosaic mesh mounted ceramic, glass and metal patterns have a flair that is quite unique. Each mesh mounted mosaic has a different glass accent color for the creation of spectacular design motifs. These beautiful patterns have a Mediterranean look and can create drama and add elegance to any space.
- Four special glass and metal features come mesh-mounted in round or dot mosaics and will bring that "sparkle" for your installation. This glass can be used on backsplashes, shower floors and walls, spas, pools, or any other place where glass is a preferred surface. Please use a high quality white polymer modified thin set when installing glass.
Important reminder: Installation of glass in large areas or outside need to incorporate expansion joints. Please see the Q&A section of Chapter 14 Raindrops II for instructions. - The six "crystal glass" color décors in 4"x4" and 2"x2" were hand crafted and patterned to fit in as accents to adorn the Courtly line adding uniqueness to your installation. The "Crystal" field tiles and embossed deco’s provide endless combinations for your installation. These tiles should not be cut since they are manufactured with a broken glass glaze process.
- Lastly multiple mouldings, shapes and stops allow an extensive design combination of chapter 8 Courtly creating fun and excitement.
Where can this collection be used?
Chapter 8 Courtly can be used on any interior wall / counter use. Kitchen backsplash, bathroom counters, tub surrounds, hearth surrounds, and wainscot walls in residential and commercial spaces. The colors we have chosen work beautifully with many natural stones, glass and metal decors. See the Chapter 8 catalog for installation inspirations.
Please note that we do NOT recommend the crackle finish tile be used on horizontal food serving or a preparation application, such as kitchen counters. However they can be used on powder room counters.
How can I merchandise Chapter 8 Courtly?
Chapter 8 can be displayed using our grouted Montage panels showing concepts incorporating tiles from additional chapters. Are there any special design or installation tips for Chapter 8 Courtly?
Courtly has surface bullnose, bead, counter trim, and mouldings with stops to allow for versatile installations.
We highly recommend using the field tiles with the décor pieces on the same installation to gain an "architectural" look emulating facades on old churches, palaces, and stately homes in Europe. To complete any installation, Courtly works beautifully with stone floor tiles from Chapter 18 Mozart Mosaics.
Using the glass elements in sheet form or as accent color spots on walls and backsplash areas can create a truly unique installation.
We produce Chapter 8 Courtly to reflect the shade variations associated with hand-made tile. As with all Jeffrey Court hand made tiles, we strongly recommend laying out and blending the tiles prior to installation. This step will ensure a proper color blend in order to achieve a classic look for your installation.
We recommend sealing crackle glazed tiles prior to and after installation with a high quality penetrating sealer.
The crackle glaze nuance brings an old-world charm to each installation. In wet areas water can penetrate through these minute cracks which will accentuate the antiquing. This nuance is something to be embraced as ALL CRACKLE glazes have this antiquing.
